Sphere has signed a “chilling” debut, The Serial Killer Next Door, from psychologist and true crime expert Emma Kenny.
Tig Wallace, senior commissioning editor at Sphere, acquired world rights, including Film, TV and podcast rights, from Victoria Marconetto-Tyson at Celebrity Sauce. The Serial Killer Next Door will be published on 5th September this year with a second book to follow in autumn 2025.
Little, Brown said: “In The Serial Killer Next Door, Kenny shares chilling true stories of killers who hid in plain sight – seemingly loving partners, friendly neighbours and trusted members of their local community. Delving into the psychology behind their crimes, Kenny points to the commonalities that unites them, leaving readers with the question: would you know if you lived next door to a killer?
“The book shares a name with Emma Kenny’s smash hit live tour, which has been selling out venues around the UK for two years and is continuing into 2025. Kenny, who has established a loyal and passionate true crime fanbase on social media, is a regular feature on TV sofas and in print, sharing her psychology expertise on criminal behaviour.”
Wallace said: “I’m delighted to bring Emma’s incredible writing debut to the Sphere true crime list. Emma tells captivating stories, with fascinating details of crimes and expert insight, while always honouring the victims. Her existing fans will love this outstanding book, as will the wider true crime community.”
Kenny said: “Fans at my shows often ask if I’m writing a book and I’m excited to finally bring this goal to life with the brilliant team at Sphere. In these true stories, readers can expect a journey into the dark side of humanity – a sensitive yet unflinching look at the crimes and psychological profiles of killers who fooled everyone around them.”
