Walker Books will this September publish a non-fiction book by TV presenter Helen Skelton.
Wild Girl will describe Skelton’s experiences in exploring extreme wildernesses around the world but also give readers ideas for how they can discover their own outdoor adventures. Skelton will be writing the book herself, with inside illustrations and cover by Liz Kay.
Skelton, who is best-known for presenting Blue Peter and Countryfile, said: “I’m so excited about this book and I hope it will inspire all children, girls in particular, to get outdoors and go wild. I never dreamed as a young girl that one day I would paddle down the Amazon or reach the South Pole, but I hope that this book will show you that, wherever you live, adventure is always within your grasp.”
Commissioning editor Daisy Jellicoe acquired World Rights from Furniss Lawton and will publish on 5th September.
Jellicoe said: “It is impossible not to admire Helen’s determination, bravery and her willingness to embrace adventures of all kinds. This book makes me want to put down my phone, get outdoors and try something new and daring, and I’m certain it will give girls everywhere the confidence to do the same.”
