Constable, part of Little, Brown Book Group, has acquired two new thrillers from author L A Larkin.
Krystyna Green, publishing director at Constable, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Phil Patterson at Marjacq for Devour and Prey.
L A Larkin is a pseudonym for Louisa Larkin, a is British-born and lives in Australia. She spent time in Antarctica researching the first of the two, Devour, because the title is partially set there and inspired by a British Antarctic Survey expedition.
Green said: "We are delighted with this two book acquisition as L A Larkin has created a totally kickass heroine for our times – investigative journalist Olivia Wolfe is fearless, driven - and the book is utterly unputdownable. It’s an exhausting, high octane thrill of a read."
Patterson said: "Olivia Wolfe offers something new and exciting in the thriller market. I am overjoyed that Louisa will be published by Constable."
The author divides her time writing thrillers as L A Larkin and "funny mysteries" as another pseudonym Louisa Bennet. She studied literature at the University of London’s Royal Holloway College and emigrated to Australia in 1998.
Larkin said: "Action, adventure, murder, conspiracy and a new female central character who can hold her own – this is the first in an exciting series and I am overjoyed to be working with Krystyna and such a talented team."
Devour will be published by Hachette Australia in July 2016 and by Constable in January 2017.
