Square Peg have bought two more titles in the bestselling Roasting Tin series by food stylist and writer Rukmini Iyer with the first to be published this month.
The Quick Roasting Tin, focused on quick recipes, will publish on 30th May and will be followed by The Roasting Tin: Around The World on 4th June 2020.
Rowan Yapp, editorial director for Square Peg bought world all language rights directly from the author who is now represented by Felicity Blunt at Curtis Brown.
“With chapters such as 'Weeknight Dinners' and 'Family Favourites', The Quick Roasting Tin has chapters tailored to the needs of Rukmini's fanbase, and will have a major publicity campaign to support it,” the Penguin Random House imprint said. “Around The World will feature the ultimate recipes from across the globe recreated as 75 delicious and simple roasting tin meals. All 75 recipes in The Quick Roasting Tin take less than 10 minutes to prepare and a maximum of 30 minutes in the oven.
The original Roasting Tin book was published in 2017, aimed at “’minimum effort, maximum flavour’ recipes for busy home cooks”, the publisher said. It was followed by The Green Roasting Tin in 2018. They have collectively sold 160,000 copies for £1.98m, according to Nielsen BookScan, making Iyer one of the top 10 bestselling cookery writers of 2018. The Roasting Tin has sold 92,516 and the Green Roasting tin 67,372
Yapp said: “Rukmini's original concept for the first Roasting Tin book was ingenious but what really underpins her phenomenal success are her brilliant recipes. They truly deliver on her message of 'minimum effort, maximum flavour' and that has made the books an incredible word-of-mouth hit. I have no doubt that these next two books in the series will grow her reach deservedly further.”
Iyer, a former lawyer, said: “I’m delighted to be working with Rowan and Square Peg on the next two Roasting Tin cookbooks - the recipes in Quick are my favourite to date, and as ever David Loftus and Pene Parker have done stunning work on the photography and design. I’m very much looking forward to spending the next year travelling and condensing flavours from around the world into easily-recreated, accessible one-tin dinners for the fourth book.”
