Two Roads is to publish Nigel: My Family and Other Dogs, a memoir by Monty Don.
Lisa Highton of Two Roads acquired world English rights to the memoir from Gillon Aitken at Aitken Alexander Associates in association with Alexandra Henderson Associates, for publication in September this year.
Nigel, the golden retriever, is the "surprise star" of BBC TV programme "Gardener’s World". Nigel is known for "quietly stealing scenes from his owner Monty Don as he trots along the gardens at Longmeadow".
Don said: "I have always had a dog, or dogs. I cannot imagine life without them. I am just as much a fan of Nigel as any besotted viewer. In the book I explore why we love dogs and what they mean to us emotionally and domestically. I look back on all the dogs in my life – all of which I have loved deeply and which have been an essential part of my life. So, this is the book of Nigel – but also the book of all our dogs in every British family and a celebration of the deep love we feel for them."
Highton said: "I am thrilled to welcome Monty Don and Nigel to the list, in this lovely celebration of how dogs enrich our lives."
Nigel: My Family and Other Dogs will be published in Two Roads hardback and e-book in September this year.
