UCLan Publishing has acquired a sequel to Amy McCaw’s YA mystery Mina and the Undead, which was published in April this year.
Hazel Holmes, publisher, bought UK and Commonwealth rights for the currently untitled novel from Sandra Sawicka at Marjacq.
The synopsis states: "Set in 1995 New Orleans, Mina and the Undead followed 17-year-old Mina, an English girl who had come to the US to spend time with her estranged sister, Libby. A fan of creepy horror movies, Mina found herself working at a horror movie mansion. Upon finding a young woman’s body with puncture wounds in her neck, Mina found herself pulled into a mystery that explored New Orleans’ darkest secrets and local myths, searching for a killer recreating the city’s most infamous murders."
It will be published in paperback and e-book in September 2022 and will be one of UCLan's lead titles for autumn, with a "huge" online and social media campaign.
Holmes said "We're very happy to be signing Amy for the sequel to Mina and the Undead. The support from bookshops and readers has been wonderful and this has been our bestselling YA title so far. I can't wait to share what happens next with our Mina fans!"
McCaw commented: "I'm thrilled that UCLan will be publishing the sequel to Mina and the Undead. The response to the first book has been amazing, and I can't wait to share more of Mina's creepy and mysterious adventures with readers."
