UCLan Publishing has snapped up Tasty Tales, a "mouth-watering" book about the world’s favourite foods, from Anna Lena Feunekes.
Hazel Holmes, publisher, bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Christabel McKinley at David Higham Associates. The "highly illustrated" book, for readers aged seven and over, will be published in May 2024.
Tasty Tales is inspired from history and folklore and depicts the origin stories about foods across the world and how these dishes "have travelled the globe to be shared and loved in new and exciting ways – and how food truly connects us all". The book also contains recipes "to inspire culinary adventures".
Feunekes said: "Joining UCLan Publishing’s list is more than just a milestone in my career as an author-illustrator – it’s a chance to share my love for food as well as illustration and writing. Each story takes you on a mouth-watering journey, and I hope to leave readers of all ages with an appetite for the diversity in food and culture that the world has to offer.”
Holmes added: “Anna Lena’s glorious artwork married with quirky tales of cuisine from around the world is an absolute chef’s kiss.”
