Commissioning editor at Unbound Mathew Clayton has launched Ibiza Past by Brian Grieve, who is behind the popular Ibiza Past Instagram account, acquiring world rights.
Ibiza Past is described as “a visual journey into the heart and soul of Ibiza during its most transformative era – the 1980s through to the early 2000s”.
“It was a time when the island became a haven for artists, musicians and free-spirited individuals seeking an escape from the confines of a conventional world,” the publisher continued.
“For the last few years, holidaymakers have sent their photo and memories to Brian Grieve’s Ibiza Past Instagram. This book collects together the best of these contributions alongside written memories, DJ playlists, flyers and posters. Ibiza Past celebrates a generation joined together by their love of music and dancing. Everyone is smiling, there are no mobile phones.”
Clayton said: “Although it is thousands of miles away, since the early 1990s, Ibiza has been an integral part of the British summer. Ibiza Past perfectly captures the spirit of this magical island, everyone that goes there falls under its spell. Never has a book contained pictures of so many smiling people.”
Grieve added: “When I started sharing my old Ibiza photos, I had no idea that it would become so popular. As we all get older, I feel it is important we somehow manage to capture those unforgettable moments experienced by those that were there. This book will serve as a time capsule, storing these photos and memories before they are lost.”
