Unbound is publishing a new book by CILIP Kate Greenaway winner Jackie Morris, as well as several backlist titles, including Song of the Golden Hare.
The publisher is crowdfunding to publish The Unwinding, a collection of 20 paintings created by Morris over the years in between other projects. They are supplemented with scraps of short prose poems, also written by Morris, and woven into a loose narrative.
Commissioning editor Lizzie Kaye said: “We are delighted to be working with Jackie on bringing The Unwinding to life. It's a book that makes you breathe a sigh of relief when you first see it, so perfectly has she captured the sense of calm we are lacking in the modern world."
“The Unwinding really appealed to us as it's so unusual, something that is very much in keeping with the Unbound ethos. It's a book that's designed to become part of your life, to be turned to again and again, occupying a space somewhere between story and art.”
The Unwinding will be released in spring 2020 alongside Song of the Golden Hare, first released by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway in 2015, but now out of print. Unbound also has plans to publish two other backlist titles, which will be announced at a later date.
The publisher acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Morris’ work from Jessica Woollard of David Higham Associates.
The campaign for The Unwinding is currently 49% funded.
