Andrew Morton is to pen an in-depth biography on Meghan Markle, who he calls a "dramatic contrast to the blushing, coy royal brides of recent history".
Michael O’Mara Books has scooped rights to Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, set to be published on 19th April 2018, a month before Markle marries Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in May.
Morton, whose California home is not far from where Markle grew up, is promising to reveal “a comprehensive, unparalleled look at her life prior to the royal engagement”.
“I was a fan of Meghan's long before she met Prince Harry. She has star quality, what some have called 'the Markle Sparkle',” he said.
“Confident, groomed and camera ready, she is a dramatic contrast to the blushing, coy royal brides of recent history. The warmth and affection Meghan and Harry displayed during their engagement interview is light years away from the stilted ‘whatever love means’ conversation with Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.
“Meghan is an exciting and genuinely charismatic addition to the royal family - she makes the House of Windsor seem relevant again. Hers is a fascinating story and I can't wait to tell it."
Morton has also written bestselling biography Diana: Her True Story as well as books on Monica Lewinsky, Madonna, David and Victoria Beckham and Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie. His biography of Wallis Simpson, Wallis in Love: The Untold True Passion of the Duchess of Windsor, will publish in February 2018.
Michael O’Mara said: “Andrew Morton, whose California home is a short drive from the area where Meghan spent her youth, is ideally placed to produce the first in-depth look at her life."
Prince Harry and US actress Markle announced their engagement was announced at the end of November.
Pavilion Books imprint Pitkin is rushing out a book about the engagement Harry & Meghan: A Royal Engagement, due to be published on 14th December.
