Vertebrate dips into wild swimming guides with Cruikshank deal

Indie publisher Vertebrate has picked up its first swimming guide, covering the Lake District, from wild swimming guru Suzanna Cruikshank.

Managing director Jon Barton secured world rights direct from the author for Swimming Wild in the Lake District, which will be released on 1st April 2020, after meeting her when he bought a guided wild swim as a birthday present for his wife.

The book is a guide to all 15 lakes, covering the 50 best swimming spots in the national park, and includes local knowledge, seasonal advice and ecological information.

Cruikshank explained: “When I first came to the Lake District as a novice hill walker there was a wealth of information on where to go and what to climb, either by following a description in a book or plotting a route on a map. As my attentions turned to swimming I struggled to find the same level of detail, so I set out to do my own research.”
