Nick Hornby’s first novel in five years, Just Like You, will be published by Viking.
UK rights were sold to Viking publisher Mary Mount by Georgia Garrett at Rogers, Coleridge and White (RCW) with other territories to be sold at Frankfurt Book Fair (16th to 20th October).
“The person you have built a life with is just like you: same background, same age, same interests,” the synopsis reads. “The perfect match. And it now it is all unravelling – it’s a disaster. Then, when and where you least expect it, you meet someone new. You seem to have nothing in common and yet, somehow, it feels totally right.”
Described as “a brilliantly observed novel that gets to the heart of what it means to fall surprisingly and headlong in love with the best possible person – someone not like you at all”, Just Like You will be published on 17th September 2020.
Hornby’s last novel, Funny Girl, was published by Viking in 2014. The High Fidelity author has written six novels for adults, one for young adults, a number of non-fiction titles and numerous screenplays. He has sold 3.5 million books for £22.9m, according to Nielsen BookScan. Earlier this month he won three Creative Arts Emmys for TV series "State of the Union", which he co-wrote with Stephen Frears.
