Viking has signed a "sumptuous" new family series from Harriet Evans, beginning with The Treasures. Publishing director Harriet Bourton acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a three-book deal from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown. The Treasures will be published in summer 2025.
The Sevenstones trilogy will follow the generations of one family over 50 years. The Treasures begins with Alice and Tom, growing up in New York and Notting Hill, respectively, in the mid-1960s. When Tom is taken to Wales by his aunt to get an education, a lost treasure, a forgotten letter and a phone call bring Alice and Tom together. Thwaites called it a "rich, glorious and epic novel".

Bourton said: "The Sevenstones trilogy is the kind of big-canvas, multi-layered and unputdownable novel that Harriet uniquely excels at – she is home comfort in literary form. These novels will appeal to such a broad audience – as well as the several hundred-thousand readers who have immersed themselves in her books previously. The Treasures will mark the beginning of establishing Harriet Evans as a lasting legacy brand, and the team at Viking are ambitious about what we can achieve with this superlative writer who is at the top of her game."
Evans added: "Writing this trilogy is simply a dream come true. For a long time I’ve wanted to tell the story of one family over many decades, like so many of the novels I adore. I have always admired Harriet’s passionate, focused approach to publishing, and joining the Viking stable to work with her and the gold-standard Penguin General team is something I keep having to pinch myself about."
