Viking is turning up the heat with four more rom-coms from Emily Henry, launching in hardback for the first time in the UK.
Vikki Moynes, commissioning editor, bought UK and Commonwealth rights to Happy Place and three more novels from Tawanna Sullivan at Penguin Random House US. Henry is represented by Taylor Haggerty at Root Literary in the US. First book Happy Place will publish in hardback in April 2023.
The book follows a couple who broke up months ago but make a pact to pretend to be together one last time for their annual week-long vacation with their best friends.
Moynes said: “I need two things for it to feel truly like summer for me: the tube rising to sauna-like temperature levels and an equally steamy Emily Henry novel in my hand. I grew up consuming a steady stream of 1990s and 2000s Hollywood rom-coms and nothing since has given me that lighter-than-air swoony feeling until Emily’s books. They hark back to those golden years yet with all the sharp wittiness of something entirely new in the rom-com genre. Every novel I meet a new love interest and I’m left unsure if I’ll ever get over them. But then she introduces me to the next one and I’m swept off my feet afresh. I can’t wait to see who else she has up her sleeve.”
Henry added: “I am ecstatic to continue working with Vikki and the whole Viking team. They have been endlessly passionate about making these books the best they can be and getting them into the hands of readers. I feel so lucky to have found in them a home for my books.”
