V&Q Books has snapped up the rights to New Yorker journalist Sally McGrane’s new thriller.
Katy Derbyshire, publisher, acquired world English rights to Odessa at Dawn directly from McGrane. It will publish in September.
The book is described as a “surreal contemporary spin on the classic spy novel” that pays tribute to one-time Odessa residents like Babel, Gogol, Pushkin and Chekhov, and to the city itself, creating "a witty, beguiling and bizarre work of fiction like nothing before".
Derbyshire commented: “Every time I put Sally McGrane’s manuscript down I started missing her characters, including the city itself, so I’m exhilarated at the prospect of getting Odessa at Dawn into readers’ hands”.
McGrane added: “I’m extremely happy and excited to be working with V&Q Books."
