Walker Books has bought world rights to a middle-grade fantasy trilogy from Irish author Celine Kiernan.
The Wild Magic series tells the story of Mup, a girl who crosses the borders of the ordinary world into Witches’ Borough, a magical realm, to rescue her father.
Commissioning editor Annalie Grainger acquired world English language rights to all three books from Sallyanne Sweeney at Mulcahy Associates. Grainger said: “Beautifully written and haunting, with a compelling magical adventure, this is a modern classic in the making. We are incredibly proud to be publishing Celine’s trilogy at Walker.”
Walker Books will publish the first book in The Wild Magic trilogy, The Raggedy Witches, in February 2018. The second and third books will follow in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Kiernan is also the author of YA novel Into the Grey, published by Walker in 2013, and The Moorehawke Trilogy, a political fantasy set in an alternate Renaissance Europe (Orbit).
