Walker announces final title in Klassen trilogy

Walker Books Group has announced that the final title in Jon Klassen’s picture book trilogy will be We Found a Hat, published in October.

The book will be the final book in the trilogy that also comprises I Want My Hat Back and This is Not My Hat, the latter of which was the first book to win both the Caldecott Medal in the US and the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal in the UK in 2014.

In We Found a Hat, which is told in three parts, two turtles have found a hat. The hat suits both of them but there are two turtles and only one hat, leading a conclusion that evokes “hilarity and sympathy”, according to Walker.

Walker Books Group had previously acquired the picture book trilogy from Steven Malk at Writers House and the first book, I Want My Hat Back, was published in 2011. The editor is executive editorial director and associate publisher Liz Bicknell, who collaborates with executive art director Ann Stott at Candlewick Press.

According to Walker, the combined sales of I Want My Hat Back and This Is Not My Hat, which have been translated into 22 languages, have exceeded 1.5m copies worldwide.

Walker Books Group will give We Found a Hat (in the UK priced at £12.99) a global English-language release on 11th October and is planning a major marketing campaign for its release.
