Walker Books has snapped up two new Loki fiction titles by Louie Stowell in a six-figure deal.
Senior commissioning editor Non Pratt and publishing director Denise Johnstone-Burt acquired world rights for books six and seven in the series from Molly Ker Hawn at The Bent Agency. A strand of branded activity books will also launch in March 2025.
Stowell said: “I’ve always had Loki’s whole story in my mind, so I’m very excited to take readers further into my world of gods, giants and other terrifying horrors (maths). It’s been wonderful seeing how Loki and friends have resonated with so many readers, over the World Book Day period and beyond. I get a lot of messages from parents saying Loki is the first book their child has really engaged with. Chaos reigns supreme among the young, and this pleases me.”
The British Book Award-shortlisted Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Being Good was selected as both Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month and Indies Children’s Book of the Month. The series has won multiple awards, including the Books are My Bag Readers Award, the FCBG Children’s Book Award, and the Children’s Literature Festival Book Award.
Pratt added: “Louie’s energy and imagination enchants and delights at every turn and it’s exciting to see how her hard work and heart-warming-yet-wicked wit connects with so many young readers. Loki fans everywhere will be thrilled to know there’s more adventures to come.”
