Walker Books has signed comedian Harry Hill’s children’s book How to Be Silly Every Day of the Year.
Publishing director Denise Johnstone-Burt secured world rights to the book from Julia Churchill at A M Heath Literary Agency and it is scheduled to be published in autumn 2024.
How to Be Silly Every Day of the Year is described as a "fun-packed guide to all things silly". The synopsis adds: "From drawing a moustache on a potato to putting stick-on eyes on a postbox to walking backwards for the day, this book will keep children engaged for hours and has everything they need to know in order to put down their phones and be as silly as they like! Harry’s trademark wit and hysterical words will be complemented by his original artwork throughout."
Hill said: “Life can be serious and I want to provide some joy and light when children might need an antidote, so I’m thrilled to be announcing this new book – a whole year of silliness! Every day something silly to do. Throw down that smart phone and join in the fun."
Johnstone-Burt added: “I laughed out loud when I first read Harry’s hilarious text matched with his brilliant illustrations and knew instantly that this was the perfect book for children today. Full of utterly silly things to do, Harry’s truly original take on the world will remind them how to have fun and forget their cares, not just once but every single day of the year.”
