Warner Bros TV buys rights to Cook's Booker-longlisted novel

Warner Bros TV has acquired TV rights to Diane Cook's Booker Prize-longlisted debut novel The New Wilderness, published this week by Oneworld.

Rights were acquired from California-based Creative Artists Agency (CAA) on behalf of Seth Fishman at Gernert. Production company 6th & Idaho will executive produce the project as part of a deal with Warner Bros TV. Cook herself will write and executive produce the pilot. 

The New Wilderness follows a mother who seeks to protect her daughter's health from the effects of climate change  by leaving the city and joining an experimental group of hunter-gatherers in the untouched Wilderness State. 

The New Wilderness is out today (Thursday 13th August) with the shortlist for the Booker Prize to be announced on 15th September and the overall winner to be named in November.
