Watkins Publishing has acquired a self-help book aimed at the partners and family of those with poor mental health by BALANCE magazine’s former editor-in-chief Sophie Scott.
Watkins project editor Brittany Willis acquired You Are Not Alone in This: Supporting a
Loved One’s Mental Health Without Losing Your Own direct from the author, in what marks her first acquisition for Watkins as a project editor. It will be published in January 2025.
Willis said: "Given the ever-increasing conversational buzz around mental health issues,
especially for Generation Z and Millennials, I’ve felt for some time there is a gap in the market
for books targeted at the supporters and caregivers of those battling mental health challenges.
As such, developing and editing a book aimed at highlighting the importance of collective care
was an aspiration of mine; when I met Sophie Scott, I knew I had found the right author to
embark on this journey with me."
Scott is a practicing transpersonal psychotherapist and was founder and editor-in-chief of wellness media brand BALANCE. She has written for Forbes, OK Magazine, SheerLuxe and Wired and is a regular contributor to wellness podcasts.
Watkins Publishing, an imprint of Watkins Media Ltd., will release the book in the UK; Watkins
distributes its books in the USA, Canada and outside of the UK worldwide through Penguin
Random House Publisher Services.
