Watkins has bagged The Jerusalem Files: The Secret Journey of the Menorah to Oak Island, a "deep dive into the hunt for one of the world’s most sacred lost artefacts" as seen on the series "The Curse of Oak Island", by Corjan Mol and Christopher Morford.
Publisher Fiona Robertson acquired world rights directly from the authors. The book will be published in February 2024.
Pitched as a non-fiction Da Vinci Code (Doubleday) by Dan Brown for the 21st century reader with "mind-blowing history and mystery", the book will take readers into Mol and Morford’s hunt for the Jewish Menorah. The publisher continued: "The authors’ research makes a convincing case for the Menorah, hidden on Oak Island, Nova Scotia, being the elusive sacred treasure that sparked the real-life treasure hunt, documented in ’The Curse of Oak Island’."
Robertson commented: "While ’The Curse of Oak Island’ TV series is focusing more and more on historical research, there is only so much they can show and explain in the confines of an episode. This book adds much needed depth and context to the search – Corjan and Christopher have provided answers to the why, who, when, what, where and how of the hunt to solve this mystery in unprecedented detail."
Mol and Morford added: "With season 10 of ’The Curse of Oak Island’ drawing to a close, findings and dating of structures on the island have made it ever more clear that the root of the mystery lies in early, pre-Columbian European travel to North America. From original Latin texts to documents from the French National Library, to many hard-to-find articles and books by bespoke authors and researchers, we’ve explored who could have had the means and the inspiration to risk their lives on a venture like this."
