Headline Eternal has acquired four more romcoms by Jo Watson, continuing a publishing partnership that has, according to the publisher, produced 600,000 copies of her books including Just The Way I am (2021) and Love to Hate You (2018).
Editorial director Kate Byrne acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the new titles from Louise Fury at The Bent Agency. The first book, What Happens on Vacation, will be published this year.
Byrne said: “It’s been an absolute joy to work with Jo over the past six years. Jo has a unique gift for delivering truly laugh-out-loud hilarity with deeply felt emotional heart. It’s a winning combination which her readers respond passionately to. What Happens on Vacation will be Jo’s most heartfelt book yet.
“An enemies-to-lovers romcom, which whisks readers away to gorgeous Zanzibar, it has a wonderfully relatable protagonist who is coming to terms with loss and is on a journey of self-discovery. It’s charming, escapist, funny and poignant, as well as romantic—a beach read with heart and soul.”
Fury added that as a long-time fan of Watson’s, “every new book blows me away".
“With What Happens on Vacation she has written another fabulous novel and we are thrilled that once again the team at Headline Eternal will be publishing,” she said.
Watson said: “I’m thrilled that my new novel has once again found a home with Headline Eternal and my long-time editor Kate Byrne. It is always such a pleasure working with her and her team. Not only do they make my books so much bette, but their enthusiasm for each and every one of them is more than I could wish for from a publisher.”
