Welbeck Children’s has scooped Be More Vegan by food blogger, chef and author Niki Webster – a "young person’s guide to being more plant-based".
Group publisher Alex Allan acquired world rights from Becky Thomas at Johnson and Alcock. Be More Vegan: The Young Person's Guide to Going (a Bit More) Plant-Based! will be released on 29th October 2020.
The publisher said: “Be More Vegan contains advice on everything from the best vegan food substitutions to vegan fashion, cosmetics and lifestyle. There’s even a section on how to answer all those awkward questions that everyone gets when they cut down on meat and dairy. Written with warmth and humour, Niki shares her own vegan journey and reassures readers that they can make a difference in their own way, whether it’s reducing meat consumption or going fully cruelty-free."
The book includes over 50 recipes, ranging from breakfast ideas to mains for all the family, and a large selection of vegan treats, snacks and desserts.
Webster has appeared in the Times, Independent, Vegan Food and Living, Waitrose Weekend, Grazia and Women's Health. Her adult recipe book Rebel Recipes earned commendations from Henry Firth and Ian Theasby of BOSH! and her Rebel Recipes blog has won The Soil Organisation BOOM award for Best Food Blog.
She said: “With over 50% of young people in the UK trying out veganism, there has never been a better time for Be More Vegan! It’s a complete young person’s guide to being more plant-based – handing them control of their diet and lifestyle, so they can make informed choices about the foods and products they choose, whether it’s going fully vegan or just eating a few more meatless meals.”
