Welbeck has joined forces with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to publish the charity’s first two pet puzzle books.
Associate publisher Joe Cottington acquired UK and Ireland rights to the Dog Puzzle Book and Cat Puzzle Book from licensing agent Katie Wilkinson at The Point 1888. Both books feature more than 100 puzzles, including crosswords and quizzes, and will publish simultaneously on 13th October.
"Pet ownership is booming, up 25% in the past three years and with half of all UK households now owning a dog or cat. Battersea’s Dog Puzzle Book and Cat Puzzle Book–the first puzzle books supporting the charity–are the perfect pair to challenge and entertain those dog and cat lovers up and down the country," the publisher said.
Cottington said: "You only have to look in the streets around you to see the explosion in dog and cat ownership in recent years, proof if ever it were needed that we are truly a nation of besotted pet lovers. Battersea has a special place in the hearts of owners and it’s a real joy to support the tireless charity work of the team there through these charming books."
Warren Traeger, licensing manager at Battersea, said: "We could not be more delighted to be working with Welbeck on these must-have brain teasers for dog and cat lovers alike. Our Battersea licensing programme aims to be the number one brand for dog and cat related products and is growing at pace. Working with companies like Welbeck enables us to reach a broader audience. Every time a Battersea product is purchased it helps ensure we are able to continue being here for every dog and cat."
Wilkinson added: "We’re thrilled to welcome Welbeck Publishing to the Battersea licensing programme. As a best-in-class licensee and publisher their care and attention to understanding the brand and capturing the important work that Battersea does means that these [books] truly stand out and deliver an amazing product with purpose to consumers."
