Welbeck Publishing has snapped up Why It’s OK to Talk About Trauma by Charlie Webster.
Former publisher Jo Lal acquired world English language rights from Jo Bell of Bell Lomax Moreton, and Matt Tomlinson is now the editor. The book will be published by Welbeck Publishing on 9th May 2024 in hardback, e-book and audiobook.
Why It’s OK to Talk About Trauma is described as "a vital, honest and empowering book about trauma in all its forms, whether it’s bullying, emotional abuse, being raised in a dysfunctional home, or going through critical illness". The synopsis adds: "Charlie Webster uses her own experiences of trauma and her journey of facing it and beginning to process it as the basis to help others do the same. From exploring what trauma is to the myriad ways trauma affects us, Charlie has described this as the book she longed for when working through her own trauma."
Webster is a broadcaster, journalist, writer, campaigner, documentarian and international speaker. She said: "In some form, trauma affects almost all of us, but it’s not talked about enough. It won’t make what’s happened to you disappear, but it will give you an understanding of what you have been through and make it feel more manageable so you can move forward a little lighter.”
Tomlinson added: "This is a hugely important book on a topic that people often shy away from talking about, but Charlie shows how trauma can be worked through and processed in a practical and positive way. Accessible, practical and engaging, this is a must-read for anyone who’s experienced trauma.”
