Wildfire snaps up romantasy trilogy by debut writer Vasquez

Wildfire has acquired an “action-packed and magical” romantic fantasy trilogy entitled Solaris and Crello by debut author Rina Vasquez.

Editorial assistant, Areen Ali, acquired world rights directly from the author. The first book in the series, A City of Flames, was originally self-published. Wildfire will publish A City of Flames in October 2023 with the second and third novels publishing in 2024.

A City of Flames follows the story of Nara, who upon aiding the capture of a dragon that attacks her village, is invited to join legion of the Venators, just like her father. Led by Queen Sarilyn Orcharion and General Erion Demori, the Venators are a legion of soldiers who train to hunt down magical creatures and protect humankind. Upon arriving at the City of Flames, Nara immediately realises that everything is not quite as it seems with the Venators. If she can find out the truth about Queen Sarilyn and her army, she just might be able to escape with her life.

Ali said: “I was delighted to discover Rina’s work through TikTok. Dragons, magic and a spunky heroine, what’s not to love? She’s such an incredible talent and I am determined to get her steamy, magical series in the hands of more readers.”

Vasquez said: “Having the opportunity to work with Wildfire on my first series is a dream come true. Areen and the rest of the Wildfire team have been so supportive about starting off my career as a writer, and for that, I will be eternally thankful. I am excited for when this book finally comes out, and I hope readers will fall in love with Nara and Darius as much as I did while writing them.”
