William Collins has triumphed in a six-way auction for The Wealth Lie by Sahil Bloom.
Commissioning editor Jo Thompson bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown in association with Pilar Queen at UTA. Rights were also sold to Ballentine in the US and Intrinseca in Brazil. Publication is slated for 2024.
The synopsis explains: “A life-changing framework for determining your unique wealth formula, the book reconceives what it means to be truly wealthy. Drawing on cutting-edge research and personal narrative, Sahil reassesses how we can rebalance finance, career, health, time management, social and physical fulfilments in order to find happiness.”
Bloom, managing partner of SRB Ventures, is an investor, entrepreneur, and writer of “The Curiosity Chronicle” newsletter. Williams Collins said he had transitioned in the past two years “from a traditional path in high finance to impacting millions of people around the world with his weekly writing and content”.
He said: “My goal is for this book to fundamentally redefine wealth and guide readers from all walks of life on a journey that helps them to ask the right questions, make the optimal trade-offs, and ultimately design and build their version of a comprehensive wealthy and fulfilling existence.”
Thompson added: “The idea that money alone can’t make you happy is something we all know on some level, but Sahil has a magic way of truly resetting our perspective and equipping his reader to make the small changes that lead to big life improvements. He is going to be such a valuable, influential voice in business and lifestyle for years to come and I am so pleased to be welcoming him to William Collins.”
