Yale University Press will publish the English translation of Bernard-Henri Lévy’s The Virus in the Age of Madness.
The publisher acquired all world English language rights from Les Éditions Grasset & Fasquelle, who published the title in France in June 2020. The English translation will be published on 28th July 2020.
In The Virus in the Age of Madness Lévy asks questions about the many meanings and metaphors society has assigned to the global coronavirus pandemic, and what they tell us about ourselves. Lévy also proposes ways to defend human society from contemporary threats to our social and economic future.
For both the French and the English editions, Lévy is donating his proceeds to organisations supporting independent bookshops.
Heather McCallum, managing director of Yale University Press London, commented: “This profound intervention passionately reminds us of our commitment to each other and responsibility across the globe, our need to look out and not shut down. Lévy engages personally with the sights and sounds, the values and meaning of a world transformed by pandemic and draws lessons for the long term.”
