A new cookbook focused on gut health by NHS gastroenterologist and winner of BBC’s “Masterchef” Saliha Mahmood Ahmed has been snapped up by Yellow Kite.
Nicky Ross, editorial director, acquired world rights from Elly James at HHB Agency for The Kitchen Prescription: 101 delicious everyday recipes to revolutionise your gut health. It will be published on 30th March 2023 by Yellow Kite and Mobius in the US.
Yellow Kite says it “combines Saliha’s passion for creating mouth-watering recipes with her knowledge as a doctor about what we should eat to stay healthy”.
Its synopsis continues: “Drawing on her professional knowledge and her love of cooking, Saliha explains the principles of gut-healthy eating and shares more than 100 simple, delicious and mostly plant-based recipes to help your gut microbiome to flourish.
“In this exciting new collection, Saliha shows that ‘healthy’ eating doesn’t have to be about dull food and deprivation. Instead, she has created quick, colourful and incredibly flavourful dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus mezze and feasting recipes to share, as well as freezer and store-cupboard staples to knock up in a flash and sweet delights to enjoy.
“Saliha really does keep it simple and her legions of fans know that her brilliantly original and tasty recipes make every dish a delight.”
Ross said: “I love Saliha’s three pillar prescription of good health. It’s so simple – cook; eat a wide variety of fresh food; and don’t diet.”
Ahmed, who won “Masterchef” in 2018 and whose début cookbook, Khazana (Hodder & Stoughton), won the Observer Cookbook of the Year 2018 award, said: “I have loved writing this book. Through these recipes I wish to teach families the far-reaching benefits of eating a gut-healthy diet. The secret to optimal health doesn’t lie in a pharmacist’s cupboard, rather in your kitchen store cupboard, fridge and pots and pans.”
