Yellow Kite has acquired a new book by Liz Earle “showing us how to future-proof our health in midlife and beyond".
Editorial director Carolyn Thorne pre-empted world all-language rights from Carly Cook at the Carly Cook Literary Agency. A Better Second Half: Dial Back Your Age to Live a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life will publish on 25th April 2024 in hardback, e-book and audio.
The publisher says: “In this ground-breaking new book, Liz Earle shows women how to live longer and better using evidence-based techniques, ideas and wisdom accumulated over her years of experience in the wellbeing arena. We all know that midlife women are often hit the hardest of all health-wise, sandwiched between bringing up our families, juggling work and caring for ailing parents, and it is all too easy to lose sight of ourselves.
“But whatever stage or age you are, there is hope and many ways to take back control of your health — physical, mental and emotional — and make yourself a priority rather than bottom of the to-do list. Part a retrospective of her life and part a brilliant distillation of self-help, this book is Liz’s mission and is full of important information on the gut-brain axis, nutri-genomics, the efficacy of high intensity weight training, the pros and cons of low carb diets, biohacking techniques and much, much more.”
Earle’s brands include Liz Earle Wellbeing, which publishes a bi-monthly magazine and weekly podcasts, and Liz Earle Fair and Fine, a jewellery range. She also co-founded the Liz Earle Beauty Co, which is now owned by Walgreens Boots Alliance. The company was sold in 2010 and she left the beauty brand in May 2017. In 2007, she was awarded an MBE for her services to business.
Earle said: “Taking the reins of your health and happiness is the most important intervention you can make, and only you can make these positive changes. I want this book to inspire you and give you the confidence and tools to create a better second half where you don’t just survive, you dial back the years so you can thrive. This is the book I have always wanted to write — and read! I’m so looking forward to inspiring and equipping all women to live their best lives yet, with my best book yet.”
Thorne said: “Who better to cut through all the noise that surrounds wellbeing than Liz Earle? She is a trusted source of sound information. We can all benefit from the wisdom and advice she will share in this new book and there are many simple gains to be made to help midlifers feel empowered and invigorated. I am thrilled to be publishing it at Yellow Kite.”
Cook added: “Liz’s passion for and dedication to helping women take the reins of their mental and physical health is infectious. It is a privilege to work with someone so committed to helping mid-life women feel and look fantastic but also help them live longer and better.”
