Yellow Kite has signed two more books by Ella Mills, and is partnering with Fane Productions to run a theatre tour around her forthcoming book Deliciously Ella: Quick & Easy.
Mills, who has sold over 720,000 books through the TCM, with her last book selling double its predecesor, will publish the first title in the new two-book deal in 2022. No further details are available about the titles as yet. Yellow Kite publisher Liz Gough acquired world rights from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown.
Meanwhile, as the Deliciously Ella food range releases frozen meals across supermarkets and plans are afoot for her snack line to be launched in the US this spring, the campaign for her new book of plant-based recipes, Deliciously Ella: Quick & Easy, is underway. Ahead of its global publication in May 2020–simultaneously alongside Mobius in the US and Hachette in Australia and New Zealand–Yellow Kite and Mills are partnering with Fane Productions to run a theatre tour around the new book. The tour will include elements of her Deliciously Ella podcast live, and interviews with her about the new book and the Deliciously Ella philosophy, as well as special guests. Stopping at eight different venues (in Bristol, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Dublin, Salford, Leed and Hove), it will run throughout May and early June.
Fane Productions has also run tours for the likes of Nigella Lawson, Sir Michael Parkinson, John le Carré, Dolly Alderton, Stacey Dooley and Grayson Perry, and collaborated with Margaret Atwood on the launch of The Testaments (Chatto & Windus), creating a live event at the National Theatre. It revealed plans for international expansion in October last year.
Mills said: "I’m really excited both about this book, which is everything our readers have been looking for–making healthy, plant-based cooking genuinely quick, easy and delicious–and to continue our relationship with Yellow Kite. Liz and the team at Yellow Kite have supported us since day one, we’d never be where we are today without them and we’re just so grateful for their ongoing belief in Deliciously Ella."
Gough added: "Incredibly, six years have passed since I acquired Ella’s very first book. I will never forget the thrill I got when I stumbled upon her sweet potato brownies online and the very next day Cathryn sent me Ella’s proposal. I was hooked from the get-go. Ella’s brand has grown on an astronomical level over such a short space of time, and her recipes just get better with each book–I honestly think those in Quick & Easy are her best yet. Ella is a true professional, a delight to work with, so passionate and so committed. To have signed more books is an honour for Yellow Kite, and we are so happy that Ella and Cathryn continue to put their faith in us–it just goes to show how fruitful and rewarding great teamwork can be."
