YouTuber’s parents' activity book goes to Seven Dials
Orion imprint Seven Dials has acquired the world rights to social media star Rebecca Meldrum’s first book.
Emily Barrett, commissioning editor for Seven Dials and Orion Spring, has acquired world rights to Mummy and Me: An Activity Book, to publish on 7th March.
Mum-of-three Meldrum, with her 105,000 YouTube subscribers and 84,000 followers on Instagram, is said to be well-known for her friendly and upbeat approach to parenting. Seven Dials said: “In this, her first book, she’s created the alternative approach to the memory baby books languishing in all parents’ cupboards the world over: a journal of activities mums and their children can complete together – however neatly or messily, perfectly or imperfectly they like – and then keep forever.”
Barrett said: “The journalling trend continued to perform strongly last year and Mummy and Me is a new and exciting take on it; there’s nothing like this out there at the moment for mums and their children so I can’t wait to bring it to market. Rebecca’s effortless stylishness has made this book the beauty it is and, coupled with her social media prowess, I can see so many mums enjoying it with their young children and then being able to look back at it in years to come.”
Melodrama added: “As a mum to three girls this activity book is something I’ve been searching for for years! This book fills the hole of having somewhere to document milestones and memories whilst also creating them. I hope Mummy and Me is well-used and well-loved, it’s definitely not something to be kept precious on a high shelf. Meldrum's recent cover reveal to her social media followers saw the book moving into the Amazon bestseller chart at number 35 within the hour, according to Seven Dials.
