Bonnier Zaffre is the latest in a raft of publishers to get behind this summer's royal wedding of Prince Harry to actress Meghan Markle.
It will be publishing a romantic comedy entitled The Royal Wedding, described as "the perfect story" for anyone ready to celebrate "the event of the year". The plot of the book features a "smart, charismatic career woman" and an English prince "who will move mountains to win her heart".
Zaffre will be publishing the title in e-book on 10th May, ahead of the royal wedding on 19th May, after Tara Loder, assistant editor at Bonnier Zaffre, acquired world rights to the title, plus one short story, from Jeevani Charika via Federica Leonardis at Martin Leonardis.
"When I was a child, princesses were meant to be pretty and blonde and docile," author Charika commented. "My daughters have princesses who choose their own fates and rescue themselves. And now, finally, a princess who looks like them. I’m delighted to have the chance to write a romance about a modern day princess and her equally modern prince."
Loder added: "I am thrilled and hugely excited to be working with Jeevani on a fabulous story featuring a strong, inspiring woman. This is a love story that I’ve been waiting to read for a long time and it perfectly coincides with this summer’s biggest event – the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan."
Other books marking the occasion include Trapeze's royal wedding-themed colouring book from illustrator Adam Rushton, out this month, Pavilion Books imprint Pitkin's souvenir publication Harry & Meghan: A Royal Engagement and Carlton Books' Harry & Meghan: An Invitation to the Royal Wedding.
Kids cut out books have also been published to celebrate the occassion. Retro Inc Books' Let's dress Harry and Meghan! The Royal Wedding Souvenir Cut Out Book features different cut outs of the couple under categories including "early life", "blind date", "safari proposal" and "chillin' at the palace", while Ladybird's paper doll book, an Amazon bestseller entitled Royal Wedding: Harry and Meghan Dress-Up Dolly Book, is challenging youngsters to dress Harry and Meghan up "for every occasion, from a night relaxing at home in their unicorn onesies, to a seventies disco and a red carpet event. And, of course, the big day itself."
