Chatto & Windus is publishing Harvard graduate Gabrielle Zevin’s "dazzling" Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow as a lead fiction title in July 2022.
Becky Hardie, deputy publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein on behalf of Doug Stewart at Sterling Lord Literistic Inc. The novel will be published as a lead fiction title on 14th July 2022 in hardback, e-book and audio.
Film and TV rights were won by Paramount in a 25-way auction, and the project is being developed by the team behind the Twilight and Maze Runner series. Zevin is writing the script.
Its synopsis explains: “This is not a romance, but it is about love. Stylish and open-hearted, this is a very different kind of love story, elevated and energised by being set in the world of creativity and video gaming. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow takes us on a dazzling imaginative quest as it examines the nature of identity, creativity, disability, failure, the redemptive possibilities in play and, above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love.”
Hardie said: “Everyone who meets Sadie and Sam falls instantly in love with them, and the amazing worlds and characters they dream up when they are together. Their story speaks to us so beautifully and clearly about the joy of friendship, of work, of creative collaboration and finding our way in the world. And the novel is a dazzling work of creation in itself, from an exceptionally talented writer. Buzz is already building for what we are sure will be the must-read summer read of 2022.”
New York-born Zevin is the author of The Storied Life of A J Fikry (Little, Brown), which is being adapted into a film, as well as the prize-winning children’s book Elsewhere (Bloomsbury), and several other novels.
A graduate of Harvard University, Zevin currently splits her time between Los Angeles and the video game Stardew Valley, where she owns a farm.
