Zoe Sugg, known as YouTube personality Zoella, has moved to Hodder & Stoughton for her first non-fiction book after the publisher won rights at auction. Sugg's fiction is published by Penguin Random House Children's.
Cordially Invited is set for a hardback publication in October 2018 and will be Sugg’s “blueprint for making an event and a memory out of each day”.
The full colour lifestyle title will be divided into seasons and detail Sugg’s favourite events throughout the year, with suggestions of how to celebrate them.
“In Cordially Invited (Sugg) shares her most creative, never seen before ideas in print; from how to feed guests and hacks for unexpected get-togethers, to simple but impressive craft projects and those personal touches people will remember,” said the publisher.
Sugg said she had been working on the project “behind the scenes” since the beginning of last year. “I'm so pleased to have found such a great team at Hodder who share my vision to be able to bring it to life. Making people feel at home in my own home is something I have always been very passionate about and it genuinely brings me so much joy,” she said.
Hodder media publisher Briony Gowlett acquired world rights to the title from Abigail Bergstrom at Gleam Futures after auction.
Sugg has published three novels with Penguin Random House Children’s, selling just under 1.3 million print copies for £8.3m through Nielsen BookScan, with Girl Online claiming the fastest-selling fiction debut of all time in 2014 with 78,109 copies sold in one week (391,572 copies sold to date in hardback).
The vlogger has 10 million subscribers on YouTube – the first female UK creator to hit the milestone – 16.8m subscribers across her channels Zoella and More Zoella, 12.7m Twitter followers and 11.1m Instagram followers. She also runs a book club with W H Smith.
Gowlett said: “Zoe..is a powerhouse of creativity, energy and positivity…I am enormously pleased that Zoe has chosen Hodder as the publisher of her first non- fiction project, and even more excited to launch this beautiful book.”
