Waterstones is one of hundreds of companies to have been affected by the ransomware attack on the software Blue Yonder.
Blue Yonder – a supply chain software company serving clients across the UK and the US – suffered a ransomware attack last month causing ongoing disruption to many major companies.
The Arizona-based company said the disruptions to its managed services hosted environment were the “result of a ransomware incident” recently attributed to a new ransomware gang named Termite.
A Waterstones spokesperson told The Bookseller said: "We are one of hundreds of companies worldwide that have been indirectly affected by connectivity issues for our warehouse systems, caused by the ransomware attack on Blue Yonder.
"Progress is being made with recovery at Blue Yonder and thankfully our own systems have not been affected. Our workarounds have been effective and we have continued to receive deliveries and send daily deliveries to our shops."
The spokesperson added: "Our bookshops are not affected by any availability issues and are looking festive and full of thoughtfully curated selections of books and gifts, ready for the last days of Christmas shopping. We thank our publishing partners for their patience and support."
