Souvenir Press will publish the new children’s Murdle novels by G T Karber, the author of the adult puzzle series.
The first novel, Murdle Junior: Sleuths on the Loose, will be co-authored by children’s author Chris Grabenstein.
Publishing director Cindy Chan acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Hachette USA to two Murdle children’s novels for young readers.
These novels will closely accompany the Murdle Junior puzzle books (Souvenir Press), featuring the young detectives of Murdle Junior in "thrilling mystery capers with conundrums to crack and villains to catch". The first book will be released in May 2025, with the second to follow in February 2026.
The synopsis says: "Based in the fiendishly mysterious world of the bestselling series, G T Karber brings you the first Murdle novel for young readers. Join Jake as she investigates the sinister disappearance of Miss Saffron at Sacred Kidney School—she’ll need the help of her trusted friend, Sterling, as well as the inscrutable school bully, Brick, to uncover clues, corner suspects and find their teacher before it’s too late. Find whodunnit and puzzle-solve along the way in this Murdle Junior mystery novel!"
Chan said: "The quick and clever world of Murdle was always destined to serve a younger audience and I’m thrilled to be bringing Greg Karber’s two new children’s novels to mystery fans, puzzlers and righters of wrong-doings! He brings a certain magic to everything he does and I am honoured to be working with him on this new children’s offering."
Karber added: "I am beyond thrilled to expand the Murdleverse into a series of middle-grade novels, and excited to be teaming up with some of the biggest and most talented names in children’s publishing to write these books with me. Children deserve stories written with the utmost care, that will inspire them, lift them up and tell them that they can solve all of the mysteries in the world, if they just put their minds to it."
